Sarasota is an amazing place filled with even better people.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again.

Between the world class beaches, the incredible amount of culture and vibrant arts scene, to the delicious options for eating in every corner of the city, there’s a little something for everyone.

I’m fortunate enough to have lived here for the past 20 years.

I hope that you will be too, if you aren’t already.

In case you’re still on the fence though, here are a few interesting facts that might make you reconsider living wherever you are now!

Did you know that the Sarasota area was ranked as the number 1 place to live in all of Florida recently by a US News and World Report study?

It even came in at #14 in the entire United States.

It’s true.

Luckily the rest of the world hasn’t quite caught on yet.

This is a good thing. More fun for you and me.

The city has a quiet charm now, but it’s growing by the month, with multiple condominium luxury high rises being erected each year. More beautiful hotels are coming to the area as well, in beautiful midcentury modern style.

Did you know that Sarasota has it’s own architectural movement? It’s called the Sarasota School, and it brought Bauhaus sensibilities to the beach, creating clean modern lines alongside the swaying palms.

Sarasota is also home to incredible schools, like Booker High, with wonderful art programs and excellent teachers.

For you healthy moms out there, there are an abundance of yoga, dance studios and beautiful gyms popping up every year.

For you engaged fathers, be sure to grab your young ones and bring them to the Mote Marine Aquarium, where your children can spot sea life up close.

Little Sally is sure to enjoy herself swinging from the monkey bars down at City Island right next to St. Armand’s Circle while you and your significant other enjoy the sunset.

Health nuts make a beeline each day for the Ringling Causeway Bridge, jogging over the beautiful Sarasota Bay, taking in priceless views of our gorgeous town and it’s pristine beaches.

Have I mentioned the food? Whatever your taste, there is absolutely something for you. From vegan options at Lila to incredible steaks on the water down at Jack Dusty, Sarasota is sure to please.

Are you a fan of the arts?

Then the opera, which is a national attraction, is sure to take your breath away. Or maybe you prefer paintings? The Ringling Museum and its incredible collection of art from across the globe is sure to tickle your fancy. Take a walk while you’re there down to Ca’ D’zan and take in the Gatsby-esque Venetian palace right on the Bay.

Fresh groceries from local farms are a breeze to catch at the Downtown Farmer’s Market each weekend, and Detweiler’s has you covered for any other day of the week. Whole Foods, conveniently situated in the heart of Downtown is sure to serve as a one stop shop for you local urbanites, and a variety of coffee shops within walking distance are sure to keep the pep in your step as you go about your day.

All of this with 300 days of sunshine and a light Gulf breeze.

What’s not to love?

We haven’t even touched on the beaches. Something tells me they deserve a little more love and attention.

Maybe in another post.

Until next time!
